To
Login to our McGraw-Hill Everyday Math Lessons:
We will use the online version for lessons and tutorials,
completing Math Journal work, Math Boxes, and Home Links (homework).
Math Journals will be available for pick-up. You will
receive a communication from the Rivendell District Office with information on
when you will be able to pick up your student’s materials.
Please take care to keep all these materials in a safe place
as they will continue to be utilized here at school should the normal school year
reconvene
I’m sending the Math
Journal 1 which can be used for review and further practice of concepts already
taught as well as the Math Journal 2 which we are currently using.

convenience I have stapled your student’s login information to the cover of his/her

3.) Your student will
be prompted to enter their username and password to login.
4.) Students will go
to the lesson of the day as outlined in the teacher’s lesson plans. Click.
5.) Students will
follow the plans numbered there (example:
Lesson 6-8: Number Sentences with
Parentheses: 1-Math Message,
2-Introducing Parentheses in Number Sentences, 3-Inserting Parentheses in
Number Sentences, 4-Number Sentences with Parentheses, 5-Name That Number,6-What’s
My Polygon Rule, 7-Math Boxes, 8-Home Link.)
6.) Students will
complete the corresponding Math Journal pages using the Math Journal I will have
sent home. Currently we are using Math
Journal 2.
7.) Students can practice
before completing the Home Link (click the box for Home Link) online. Students click on the answer boxes and type
in their answers. There is a “check”
feature there for students to receive feedback on their work. THIS STEP IS OPTIONAL.
8.) At the bottom left
corner of the Home Link screen you will see a blue box that says Activity
Kit. Click.
9.) Click Activity
Resources.
10.) Click Home Link
6-8 (example).
11.) Print the Home
Link worksheet. Complete it and we will
eventually have a plan for returning the Home Links to me for review. You could take a photograph of the work and
attach it in an email to me. Isn’t
technology grand?
For additional support the online
lessons contain many resources such as an online copy of our Student Reference
Book as well as an eToolkit for the use of virtual math manipulatives such as a
protractor, mathematical compass, timer, and stopwatch.
You will also find clocks, fraction circles,
frames and arrows, games, geoboards, grid paper and much, much more!
Be sure to
use the Tutorial Videos (click on Menu, click on Tutorial Videos).
Math Notebooks
This year we have used a Math Notebook. It has been used for note-taking and
mathematical concepts cut and paste activities.
I am sending this home. From time
to time I will send notes and activities to be added to the Math Notebook. Look for these either as email attachments or
pushed out through Google Classroom.
To
Login to our Science Studies Weekly Science Lessons:
Please choose to use either the online version of Science Studies Weekly,
the paper version (which will be available for pick up. You will receive a communication from the Rivendell
District Office with information on when you will be able to pick up your
student’s materials.

4.) Students will be
directed to the science page. There they
will see Third Grade Science Studies Weekly Discovery or Fourth Grade Science
Studies weekly. Click on the assigned
grade level.
5.) Third grade will
click on Week 8: Physical Science-Observing
Energy. Fourth grade will click on Week
7: Physical Science-Magnetic Power.
6.) Students will
read/listen to all articles.
Students
will take each quiz, watch
each video, complete the Crossword, play, “Misspilled” and use the Bonus
Sources icon for further reinforcement of concepts (purple box in
the upper right-hand corner or the individual articles where this is included). “Coins” are earned for successful completion
of each of these items.
P.S. Fourth grade has
already completed this lesson so just use the online version as a review.
I will be able to monitor the student’s progress online. I will be able to click on your student’s name
and see a Student Report which shows:
- When the student last
logged in
- His/her score on the
Crossword
- Total Coins Earned (for
successful completion of the items listed above)
- Points earned for playing
Misspilled
- Article Questions Answered
- Bonus Questions Answered
